Correcting the Kansas City Star on Health Care
The Kansas City Star published the following article this week: Click Here
However, several points need correction and clarification:
1) It was Gov. Parkinson that accepted the “$31 million federal “innovator” grant to build the technological base needed to make the exchange work.”
2) The Kansas Legislature passed the Health Care Freedom Act in the Kansas Senate by a vote of 26-10 and in the Kansas House by 108-15, and was signed by Gov. Brownback on Jun. 1. The Kansas Health Care Freedom Amendment passed the House by 91-27, and if it passes the Senate by a two-thirds margin, it will be on the ballot in 2012. See more at kansashealthcarefreedom.com.
3) There have not been any moves by the Kansas Legislature to pass legislation creating a health insurance exchange.
4) Kansas is a party to the Florida lawsuit with 25 others states and the National Federation of Independent Business, in which Federal Judge Vinson ruled the entire “Affordable Care Act” as unconstitutional. It was heard by the 11th circuit appellate court Wednesday, June 8.
