Shawnee , KS – Mary Pilcher Cook (R-Shawnee) praised Sen. John McCains’s choice of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin for his running mate today and believes his selection will infuse the Republican convention with energy and excitement.

“Sen. McCain couldn’t have made a wiser choice,” Pilcher Cook said. “Gov. Palin is a woman who is dedicated to sound fiscal responsibility and she has strong moral convictions for family values – traits that our nation needs right now. At the same time, she is a caring and compassionate woman who is concerned about the individual human person.”

Pilcher Cook is looking forward to the Republican Convention next week and was delighted to hear that it will be Sen. Sam Brownback who will be introducing Gov. Sarah Palin to Republicans at the convention.

"I thank the voters of District 10 for the confidence they showed in me during the primary election, demonstrated by my campaigns 57-43 win. Topeka , KS – Mary Pilcher Cook (R-Shawnee) filed today as a candidate for the 10th District state Senate seat. The district covers the city of Shawnee and northeast Lenexa and is an open seat since Sen. Nick Jordan is running for Congress.

"Shawnee and Lenexa are very important communities to me as I grew up here and have seen them grow and develop,” Pilcher Cook said. “And in these difficult economic times, we need an experienced legislator to fill Senator Jordan ’s shoes.”
