Mary Pilcher-Cook Welcomes Citizens Tax Reform Ideas
Shawnee Senator Mary Pilcher-Cook, R-Shawnee, today launched an effort welcoming citizen input for potential tax reform in the state of Kansas. Pilcher-Cook believes input from citizens is critical, in response to President Steve Morris forming a tax policy study group comprised of several Senators. Senator Mary Pilcher Cook, Republican of Shawnee, offered the following statement on Friday regarding her decision to vote in favor of the FY 2012 Budget as passed by the state legislature this session.
Pilcher-Cook Applauds Passage of Clinic Licensure Bill
Topeka -- Senator Mary Pilcher-Cook, Republican of Shawnee, today applauded the Kansas Senate's passage of the abortion licensure bill, H sub SB 36, by a vote of 24-15, which institutes Court-approved medical protocols and sanitation for abortion businesses. In addition, the legislation prevents abortions by surgery or pills by non- physicians and bans the novel "webcam" abortions where dangerous abortion pills would be dispensed remotely via computer. Pilcher-Cook, who carried the legislation on the floor, released the following statement:
Governor Signs Letter Asking President to Support Expedited Court Action on Obama Health Care Plan
Topeka Kansas Governor Sam Brownback released the following statement after joining 27 other governors today in sending a letter to President Obama today requesting him to direct the United States Department of Justice to support an expedited appellate process for the pending healthcare lawsuits to reach the United States Supreme Court as soon as possible.

Shawnee , KS Mary Pilcher Cook (R-Shawnee) released the following statement to District 10 voters:
"I thank the voters of District 10 for the confidence they showed in me during the primary election, demonstrated by my campaigns 57-43 win. Over the next two months, I look forward to continuing to discuss my message of fiscal responsiblity, respecting the rule of law, and child-focused education with Republicans, Independents, and Democrats."

Mary Pilcher Cook Files for Senate Four-year Legislator Brings Experience to Race
Topeka , KS Mary Pilcher Cook (R-Shawnee) filed today as a candidate for the 10th District state Senate seat. The district covers the city of Shawnee and northeast Lenexa and is an open seat since Sen. Nick Jordan is running for Congress.
"Shawnee and Lenexa are very important communities to me as I grew up here and have seen them grow and develop, Pilcher Cook said. And in these difficult economic times, we need an experienced legislator to fill Senator Jordan s shoes.
