Quality Education
One of Johnson County’s most significant attractions is its quality public schools. To maintain our strong schools, we must:
  • Encourage visibility and accountability over where education dollars are going.
  • Keep more Johnson County tax dollars in Johnson County
  • Demand increased local options, particularly in the area of funding
  • Provide a suitable core education for all Kansas children
  • Increase teacher pay
Approximately two-thirds of our state budget goes to some form of education -- making it the primary responsiblity of state government. Likewise, ensuring a quality education for our children is one of the primary reasons I seek elected office, as I believe our children deserve the very best education possible, and I believe parents have the right to know that their dollars are being well spent. The child must always be the focus of our education spending and policies -- and I will fight for increased visibility and reporting so more control rests in the hands of parents, where it belongs.
